Sustainability

Dress to Impress Rentals is committed to sustainability. We promote a circular economy by renting out high-quality designer dresses, reducing textile waste and the carbon footprint associated with fast fashion.

Our collection is carefully handpicked from designers who follow ethical and environmental guidelines, ensuring that every rental contributes to a more sustainable fashion industry.

Here are examples showcasing our sustainability efforts

Circular Fashion

Clothing production is the third largest manufacturing industry in the world and second largest polluter, being responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions. The designer dress hire movement has paved the way for a sustainable fashion future by reducing landfill/over consumption and decreasing production; Ultimately leading to reduced global carbon emissions. By renting with Dress to Impress Rentals, you not only get to wear a beautiful designer dress at a fraction of the price, but you are reducing waste, lowering the carbon footprint, encouraging conscious consumption, and supporting sustainable practices.

Courier Bags

We use R3pack recycled Courier bags for all our postal needs. They are made from 100% recycled post consumer and post industrial plastic waste.  Even the removable adhesive backing and the inner bag is made from recycled plastic. This reduces the amount of virgin plastic in production. Once finished, simply reuse or recycle with soft plastics.

Packaging and care cards

Our rentals are carefully wrapped in tissue paper, which can be recycled after use. Each order comes with a care card outlining key information and return dates. These cards are laminated and get returned with each rental to allow them to be used over and over again. This also applies to our local pick up packaging. We use paper bags and reuse these for multiple orders before recycling them

Repair, re-use, re-sell

At Dress to Impress Rentals, we are committed to extending the life of our rental garments in any way we can. When customers take care of a rental dress they contribute to the sustainability efforts of rental companies by helping to maintain the quality and longevity of the dresses, reducing the need for replacements and minimising environmental impact.

We have a very talented seamstress who works to alter and bring garments back to life when damage occurs. When the garment comes to its end of life, our garments are re-sold in preloved condition or donated

Cleaning

All garments at Dress to Impress Rentals are hand washed/wet washed rather than drycleaned. With wet cleaning, we use water-based detergents and cleaning agents that are less harmful to the environment compared to the chemicals used in dry cleaning, such as perchloroethylene (perc) or other solvents. These solvents can be toxic and pose risks to air, water, and soil quality if not properly handled or disposed of.

We also use a Samsung washing machine that consumes less power and water due to its efficient drum technology, patented wash rhythm and high spin efficiency.

In our commitment to sustainability, we strive to continually innovate and improve our practices, ensuring that every rental with us supports a more environmentally responsible future.
